with Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride at Wise Traditions

I remember the first time I met Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride. It was 2007, and she was speaking about children's health at the annual conference of the Weston A. Price Foundation, Wise Traditions. I sat in the conference room and wept at her words, knowing that I had found it-the answer I was looking for: the GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome™) Nutritional Protocol. But I have jumped ahead. Let's go back to the beginning.

I had been teaching Nourishing Traditions cooking classes for a few years in the DC metro area, and had a nutrition practice. So many children were sick with allergies and brain function disorders--Aspergers and Autism Spectrum, ADD, ADHD, OCD,--heck, it was a veritable alphabet soup of diagnoses and disorders. I was looking for a way to heal autism--and everything else through food for a few years. I KNEW it was possible. I had researched all of the diets that were around at the time--BED (Body Ecology Diet) and SCD (Specific Carbohydrate Diet) and had found them lacking for certain reasons. Then along came Dr. Natasha...and boom! I had found it.

I began teaching GAPS cooking classes in 2010, at the request of some of my students at the time. In response to the amount of confusion around cooking for the GAPS diet, especially the critical role of Meat Stock in the diet, I began to write my Cooking Techniques for the Gut and Psychology Syndrome™ Diet series and produced a GAPS Intro Diet Chart. In 2016, I took the training and became a Certified GAPS Practitioner. In 2019, I pulled all four of my Cooking Techniques for GAPS books into a compilation volume, The Complete Cooking Techniques for the GAPS Diet. This latest volume includes more than one hundred new pages, and is written to put the cooking into the context of the GAPS Diet itself.

As “The GAPS Chef” (Dr. Natasha dubbed me that a few years ago), I am on the teaching team for all Certified GAPS Practitioners (CGPs) and Certified GAPS Coaches (CGCs). You can find out more about the training classes for those certifications here

In my practice, I work with individuals and families to implement the GAPS Diet with ease. I work with people all over the world via phone and Zoom. If you would like to reclaim your health through the GAPS diet, I would love to work with you! Schedule your time to talk now!

And check out my GAPS Cooking Weekends! They may be just what you need to get in the kitchen and begin with confidence!
